Branding ✷ Strategy ✷ Creative Direction ✷ Community Design
Originally launched by The Oregonian, Dumpling Week has grown into a citywide celebration of food and culture — now independently led and creatively stewarded by OverEasy. Each February, the event brings together more than 40 Portland restaurants for a week dedicated to dough-wrapped specialties.
The Insight
With dozens of participating restaurants and thousands of diners, Dumpling Week needed a cohesive identity that could unify the experience while still leaving room for individual restaurant stories to shine.
The challenge was creating a system that felt both editorial and accessible — something that could scale year after year while remaining rooted in authenticity, craft, and community.
The Work
OverEasy leads the creative direction for Dumpling Week, coordinating closely with participating restaurants and refreshing the event’s digital and physical touchpoints each year.
This work includes maintaining and updating the event website, designing the annual Dumpling Week passport, and creating supporting collateral and promotional materials. The imagery emphasizes process, texture, and human moments, grounding the event in real kitchens, real people, and real food.
Dumpling Week became a recognizable, repeatable cultural moment in Portland — one that diners anticipate annually and restaurants rely on for visibility and foot traffic.
By pairing strong editorial storytelling with scalable design systems, the event continues to grow while maintaining its local, community-driven spirit — reinforcing food as both a cultural connector and a shared experience.
